What is getting me through the week

Thanksgiving! Every year I go to Alabama with my Family! These are pictures from last year and it is what keeps me going through school and my internship. I have only been home once this semester, so it is a well needed break from school! O I can't wait :) This is a picture of my dad's, famous rolls. I will be the successor of these one day; every year I help him make them from scratch. Although he is a Yankee he sure does know how to make some good ole southern foods!

These are my favorite foods of Thanksgiving. What are your favorite foods? Do you celebrate the traditional southern way or something different?

The Blind Side

I just saw The Blind Side! I cried during the trailers when I went to see Time Traveler's Wife and I have been anticipating its opening ever since. My parents are in town and it just seemed like a perfect way to end the day!

We started the day with a breakfast tailgate and then went to the Florida State v. Maryland game. It was an exciting game and the Noles won :) We are officially bowl eligible (Thank goodness!) FSU has the longest current record of bowl games!

But back to the movie. It was wonderful, Sandra Bullock was truly amazing! I want TO BE HER in this movie! It is funny and inspirational and to top it off, it is based on a true story. It really makes me want to go out and do something good for someone else. I really hope y'all can go see this movie, I know you will enjoy it as much as I did! You can check out the trailer here, but be prepared to cry!

In need of a new blow dryer

Does any one have a suggestion for a good blow dryer? It is on my wish list, but I don't know what kind to get. I have always bought cheaper ones, but I am ready to upgrade and make a good investment. I LOVE my CHI straightener, but the reviews of the CHI blow dryer don't score very high! If anyone has a blow dryer brand they love let me know!!

It is not Christmas yet but....

While I don't approve of the Christmas songs on the radio just yet or downtown having Christmas decorations up... (That should be saved till after Thanksgiving!)I did buy my first Christmas Gift(s) of the season. I saw these wine stoppers at A Place to Dwell and had to buy one...OK a few! If you didn't know I LOVE owls, they are my sorority's mascot and have grown very near and dear to my heart. So I went ahead and ordered some presents for friends!

An update of my fall...

School has been killer this year. With classes like Financial Accounting and Reporting II and Cost Accounting, not to mention an internship to balance, it is hard to have a life. And even harder to blog. While my blogging has lacked, I have done a lot of fun stuff. So here is a quick update...
Parents Weekend! This is a picture of my Mom and Dad at the Chi O house. This is my parents' 7th Parents Weekend at Florida State and Chi Omega. My older sister is a Chi O too, so they have enjoyed many years with us! We always have a delicious dessert party Friday night, a BBQ on game-day and fun game-day activities! This was one of the best years yet!

Next was Formal... This is Emily my best friend and I at dinner before the Chi O Formal. It was held at a local country club and was probably the most fun I have had all semester! My dress is a JCrew dress I got at a "catalog" JCrew store. They are clothes that were over ordered or discontinued...ect. Like a TJMAXX but for JCrew! I love it and the prices are great! I added the brown sash to make it look more appropriate for fall!
Most recently was Emily's 21st Birthday!! (The picture is of my "Grand-little" in my Sorority, Taylor") Here in Tallahassee, on your 21st we celebrate with a Waltz! Its a themed party that travels from bar to bar. Emily is from Texas so of course was themed "DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS" We all dresses in cowboys jerseys, red white & blue, and of course our boots! It was great.

So while there were about a million of things that have gone on (football games, Parrot Head Parties, Tye-dying parties, Big Little Revelations, birthdays...and so much more) that was a few highlights of my semester so far!

What a week and its only... Tuesday!

I have officially started my internship! I am working at a CPA firm and in one day I have already learned so much. I filed a Corperate Tax return, individual tax return, and did something with extensions! Not to mentions learned 3 new programs and Quickbooks (kinda). ha... a little overwhelmed, yet so excited. Everyone in the office is so funny and inviting. I have A LOT of questions and they are all more than helpful! Can't wait for Tax Season! ha ha ha.

On top of that, school (although only on the second week) is getting hectic. Quizzes are flying my way, readings to be done every night and test will be here before I know it. Even though I am a little stressed, I really like a few of my teachers. I am hoping to learn a lot and hopefully it will all correlate with my internship.

It is also Fraternity Rush week. I made the CUTEST buttons for the girls that were helping and we all wore them last night. I will post a picture soon! I only made a few and was bombarded with girls (and boys) wanting them, guess I should have made more! To say they least they were a hit! And on that subject I love Kappa Alpha boys- True Southern Gentleman!

Last...well kinda... I started a new Taebo workout class. It was great!!! My friends and I are going on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It totally kicked my but and I loved every second of it. The instructor is motivational and constantly keeping your energy up. Today was a really good workout and I will most likely be sore tomorrow. Hopefully I will be seeing some results soon!!

So thats a recap on my crazzzzzyyyy week and most likely all of fall semester!!
O WAIT! I forgot to mention FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!! Monday night: FSU vs. Miami!! GO NOLES :)

All moved in!

I am all moved it! Here is a quick picture of my bedroom at school. It is quite eclectic with lots of bargains! The iron rod bed is almost 100 years old, my mom found it when she was very young in a burnt down house and had it restored and painted. The little white desk was also a restoration piece. Although it was not too old, it was very boring before my mom and I added our touch! Originally it was a very light pine color and looked very "modern". I was going for a shabby chic look in my room. So we painted it white and added the crystal knobs on each drawer. It turned out perfect and was very easy!

(this is the desk in the middle of the project! I sanded it and did a spray primmer, then continued to spray paint the desk.) I was a little worried about spray painting it, but I did my research online and looked at quite a few blogs as well, and decided to just take the plunge! It turned out great and I got a very nice even coat! We added little crystal knob like these to add a girly touch. And the next picture is of the other side of my room, I love the mannequin. I actually found it at Wal-Mart a few years back, my parents got it for me as a Valentine's Day gift! I use it to hold fun pins and some jewelery. Sometime its even gets dressed up for holidays!

This is a quick picture of my bathroom. I LOVE monograms (but what southern girl doesn't?!?)I love my new place! But if it weren't for my parents' hard work and help, it wouldn't look like this at all! We had to clean A LOT and move lots of heavy furniture! So many thanks to them. xoxo

Lilly Photo of the Week!

Welcome back... to me! ha ha ha. I need to get my act together, to say the least! A summer job, starting school, moving in, sorority recruitment, and a new internship has taken over my life! But I have lots to blog about now :) I am Miss Janice's Lilly photo of the week, so check it out!! If you want to know more about my Lilly trip ( where the pictures are from) I blogged about all the details at the beginning of the summer!! Hope you enjoy looking around my blog for anyone who is new!!

Giant Paper Flower!

This is the cutest project ya'll! I was watching The Martha Stewart Show on Friday and this is one of the projects they created! I am always ready to make any thing crafty, especially something like this where I had all the supplies already and I knew would turn out so perfect! The directions and a Video can be found right here!
I put my giant paper poppy flower on top of a card for a bridal shower to dress up a 'his and hers' gift card set (Sears for him and Bed, Bath and Beyond for her). The Shower theme was 'around the clock'; each girl was assigned a time to theme the gift. For example, 8 am: She received a pancake skillet with batter and all, plus a few spatulas to flip them! Then she would open 9, 10.... so on. A few funny ones were 12(noon) with a gift themed "Afternoon Delight ;)" , so on to 5 o'clock with wine glasses, martini glasses, Koozies, and drink mixes, even a zester! I received 3 o'clock... I figured what better time to go shopping! ha ha ha ( Although any time is good to shop for me!) Really gift cards were something where the Bride could pick out a gift she really wanted or needed! But EVERYONE loved the flower on top. The room was filled with teachers ( mostly k-2nd grade) and of course they wanted to make it a project for their kids in the classroom! It would make a perfect spring craft or Mother's Day gift for the little ones! And it really is that easy! Everything can be found on the Martha Stewart Show website ( Directions, Video, and Templates!)

I haven't worn a Skort since 1st grade!

...and now I can't get enough of them! This is my new workout obsession. I love buying workout clothes because I want to wear them and then inturn, I have to workout! Not to mention when you go to a university gym you have to look good! It is really just another social place on campus. These skorts are feminine and very comfortable. They are skirts, but still funtion for workouts because of the cute little shorts under them! Most have slits or zippers on the side to adjust for your workout or stride. There are no "wedgies" or riding up because the spandex stays in place well under the skirt, but it is a lot more modest than just wearing spandex! I think the fit of most are very flattering and make your legs look long and girly! Everyone is selling them now and I even picked up a few at TJ Maxx!

Snapshots for Charity

On Friday I took these pictures for a charity event. In the Spring my Mom's elementary school held a Relay for Life event; the event helps raise money to fight cancer. For her Relay for Life team she put a photo package up for auction (She is also a professional photographer). The highest bidder would receive a sitting and a few prints, as well as a CD with all the pictures. Now, my mother is an amazing photographer and her pictures turned out a lot better, but here are a few I shot. I just tagged along on the shoot to help set things up and make sure the details of the pictures (like spacing, seaweed on the ground, signs out of the way) were taken care of and the triplets were all looked after! While there, I snapped a few myself! These aren't edited at all, but they will be! Hopefully we can add these into the package!

A. Tierney

A little bit ago I won a A.Tierney bangle from the Pink Tutu! I got it in the mail while I was on Vacation and couldn't wait to wear it! I have worn it many times since then and have received so many compliments! The bracelet is even prettier in person than the website shows it! I thought I would share a few pictures of it with ya'll! These were taken before Phillip and I headed to dinner at the beach, we snapped a few quick pictures :)

Thanks again! I love it so much!!

Hence "The Salty Kiss"

I LOVE fishing! Whether is is deep sea fishing or just off shore, something about being in the vast water and surrounded by God's beauty is such an amazing feeling. It is completely relaxing to sun bathe and soak up that salty air, but thrilling to be fighting a fish as well. One reason my name is "The Salty Kiss" is because of my love for Mother Ocean! These pictures are from an adventure filled weekend with one of my best friends. We couldn't get our bait to the bottom before we caught another fish! Here are some fun pictures from the trip!

Megan and I riding to our "spot". New Lilly suit with lots of cute colorful fish! Of course we have to add a little Lilly in ;)

First fish of the day and one of the smallest! ha ha ha

Another BIG one!
Riding home :)

Our Catch! 18 red snappers, 2 massive Kings and 3 Bonita (Bait for another trip)
Then we had a huge fish fry with my family and friends. We feed over 10 people and still had PLENTY of left overs! Thanks to God for such a blessed trip and bounty!

Now I know what Heaven looks like...

(New Vintage inspired clothing tags)

"It's a Lilly World we live in"
-My sister

You know those weeks when you ask yourself, "Could things get any better?" That was my week when I went to Philadelphia, PA. As many of you probably know Lilly Headquarters is in Philadelphia, that is why the warehouse sale is there. When I heard the news that I was getting to go to the Sale, I was talking to Katie L. on the Phone. I literally squealed and jumped up and down. Not too long after that call, my cell phone rang again. I was thinking...o dear we aren't going to get to go....what's gone wrong... Now I am a believer in all things good and lovely. But sometime I worry that everything is going too well. Just when you hit that point something bad has to happen! Well, to my surprise this was another amazing call! Tori, one of the Lilly print designers offered us a private tour of Lilly HQ!! Wow...again the squealing and jumping ensued, and this time for much longer! So Friday of our Lilly Week we took the most amazing tour of our lives. Pulling into the parking lot you could feel the energy and happiness that radiated from the building. The weather was dreary, but I swear there was sunshine on the pink building and rainbows, and butterflies in the sky! ( Ok, that was a little exaggerated! te he he) The Lilly Jeep sat sparkling in there and the big pink cursive letters invited us in. Every detail in the building exuded sunshine.

We entered the lobby and continued into the design room, where Tori works. Adorning the walls were inspiration board for deigns to come in future collections. Each board piled high with fabrics, pictures, water colors, ect... The table was covered in these bright swatches of fabric. Aren't the colors just perfect! There were a few designers working on computer and sketching designs. Walking in just makes you feel creative! From there we walked into more offices where Lilly dresses and fabrics where hanging and propped in every corner. It was like a messy heaven! We met a few other people and continued on to the actually warehouse where the sale used to be many moons ago. We also stopped by the classic juice bar, and viewed the next collection! (Resort, I believe) The fabrics were to die for and a lot of the materials were environmentally green! How neat, we love pink and GREEN!

It truly was a great experience. Everyone was so kind and happy! How could you not be happy working there?? Here are a few more pictures from the tour!

Katie L. and I in a Lilly Golf cart! The seat and ceiling were covered in a beautiful print!

The fabrics piled in every corner!

My FAVORITE inspiration Board! I am a fisher and loved the addition of the "Gulps", bait! I can't wait to see what print comes from such an amazing inspiration board!

New Collection dresses!!! I looooooovvvveee them!

The Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale!!!!!

" Lilly Pulitzer makes everyone look happier, richer, and more fun-loving than they probably are. Lilly equals sunshine."
- Johnathan Adler

Pictures from inside the Warehouse Sale!

And so the blogging begins! I am finally back from my 2 week vacation to Philly and North Carolina. I have to say these past weeks were some of the best of my life! In one week I got to go to the Lilly Warehouse Sale and go crazy, it was my birthday, and got a personal tour of Lilly P. HQ by one of their print designers! Could it get any better?? As I unpacked my stuffed suitcases last night I was Santa in June. As my sister sat there on the couch watching me reveal all my treasures ( the sale could defiantly be considers a treasure hunt), I adorned her and piled her high with new Lilly Polos, skirts, shoes, dresses, shorts, headbands, tops, sweaters... She thought she had died and gone to Lilly Heaven!!

The sale truly was amazing! Because we (Katie L my BFF and I) got to go to the Sale a day early we received extra bargains, plus an extra 25% off and BOGO where I noted. I took advantage of it! I normally don't buy Lilly unless it is on sale, I am a college student after all. I will by summer clothes during the winter and keep them put away wishing the spring would begin to flourish as soon as possible. Then right when it starts to hit those summer highs I buy the sweaters and save them away for chilly nights. But this time the bargains were better than ever and I can wear them right away! I am sure ya'll are wondering just how good the prices were:

Dress: $59-99
Shoes:$60 (+BOGO)..so really 30 each
Skirts: $39-59
Tops: $59-69
Shorts:$39
Purse:$59-99
Polos: $24 (+BOGO)...so 12 each
Swimsuits: $59 (+BOGO)
Samples: $20-40 (+BOGO) this would include anything and everything. It is stuff
they take to show or use as promotions. All size 6 (THANK YOU LORD!). Perfect condition, just very limited in quantity! But this is where you find the real bargains!

All my Lilly Treasures!!

Ps- these pictures don't even do justice! Promise! he he he

Banana Pudding to Die For!

My mother and I made this Banana Pudding over Memorial Day weekend, and let me tell you it is to die for! Now this isn’t your regular pudding, when you add that sweetened condensed milk and cream cheese, something magical happens. I promise if you take this to any BBQ or summer party it will be a hit; gone before the burgers are even out and friends will be asking you for this recipe!

Ingredients:

8 oz Cream Cheese

1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 Large Pack Instant Banana Pudding (You can use Vanilla for a more subtle taste…but I’d go all out with the banana!)

2 Cups Milk

1 Cup Sugar

8 oz. Cool Whip

Bananas

Vanilla Wafers

Beat softened cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add condensed milk and mix well. Add Pudding, milk, and sugar. Mix Well. Blend in Cool Whip.

Layer Vanilla Wafers on the bottom of the dish. Cut up bananas and layer to cover the wafers. Spread pudding mixture over bananas. Continue layering to desired amount!

Make-Ahead Hint: The custard pudding mixture may be frozen for use at a later time! (But I don’t think it will make it to the freezer! He he he)

Enjoy this one ya’ll. Like I mentioned we made this over the long weekend for our own family BBQ . My Dad loves Banana pudding and this stuff was gone before the next afternoon! We literally ate it for breakfast too!
